Paul McKee Gets the Go Ahead on Northside.

As seen here in the St. Louis Business Journal.

Aldermen vote overwhemlingly to support the Northside Project.  Over 2 Square miles of city land is up for development under his $8+ billion dollar plan.

The plan includes warehouse, commercial and residential development totaling several million square feet.

McKee’s interest in a collaboration with the city of St. Louis and the State of Missouri is to assure Tax Incremented Financing for a substantial portion of the project, which will be used to develop the key infrastructre components necessary to modernize stormwater management, streets and other public services.

The planned development will extend from the 1-70 corridor along the Mississippi River to the East, South to Washington Avenue and even further south near Choteau, West to Grand and as far North as Natural Bridge.  This is a huge swath of land at the heart of the city of St. Louis.

It appears this project will have several tiers of contractors involved:

Partners

Contracting Generals

Major Subcontractors

Private Residential Contractors

This is an interesting opportunity to invigorate the commercial AND residential construction landscape in St. Louis.  Over 10,000 residential units are planned.  A hotel is planned.  Several parks and commercial centers are planned.  You cand find plans and conceptual drawings here. Can it be pulled off in 20 years?  What do you think?
